with the partners schools trough the
Internet using: e-mail, chat, and
videoconferencing;
Planned Activities:
During
the first term (Oct – Nov)
1./ KNOW
EACH OTHER
Through series of 7 photos pupils
present their village/town/around area.
We exchange them with a short text in
English plus in their native language .
This can be typed on Word by the
pupils or by the teacher.
We upload them on our web site maybe
on a movie-maker file?!
Deadline: November
Completed
activities:
The
school year 2006-2007 is
the second one of this
e-twinning action. Most of
our pupils are new
in this collaboration from a
distance. So we exchanged
class photos again, for
introducing ourselves among
the schools this time. (PT-GR-AT) We created an
e-twinning corner in our classroom with
maps, flags photos and other small
things we are going to exchange
through the year.
Finally we decided to ‘know each other’
through:
"A
Presentation of our Area", on a PPT file with
digital photos shot by the kids and
short texts created by them and in
some cases typed on the computer by
themselves. The chosen topic for each
partner is different and it’s up to
them to feel free to present whatever
the «pupils’ eyes» prefer and like.
Portugal pupils presented their
"Windmills" the Greeks their
"Agricultural
Machineries" and the Austrian
their "Fire
Service"

Planned Activities:
During the
second term (Dec
–Jan)
· 2./ SING
A SONG
We learn to sing a common song into the
3 languages: ‘To Kokoraki’ - The
little rooster... (Greek version)
We translate this into the 3 languages
and record it in our native language.
We exchange music files and text of this
song
Deadline: January
Completed
activities:
-
Pupils made Christmas cards and
send them to their partners.
-
Because the winter was ‘lost’ this
year … kids asked mane questions
and so that a short project ‘Where
is the Winter” cam up from them
in a PPT.file. Pupils went out
with a digital camera and observed
the surrounding, took photos hoping
to find the Winter!
-
Finally we decided each partner
school to record a traditional song
for kids, sang by the pupils and
to be sent to the others plus
the lyrics (English + native
language). The aim is all the
partners be able to listen first
and sing after a song in another
language. The Greek song :
‘to kokoraki’
: the little rooster
The Portuguese song : DO
RE MI
The Austrian song :
The
Geburtstag : the birthday song.
-
We exchanged one
typical food (ingredients plus
photos) from each country, easy to
be made by the pupils. This came
up because we planned to organise
one open e-Twinning day for each
partner in the Spring.
-
Portugal and Greece
cooperated for the "Safer Internet
Day 2007". The target was to
challenge pupils to realize which
is the main aim using the
Internet. "Sharing a
drawing…sharing a song we multiply
our school life’" was the title
and represents what we believe when
we use the ICT.

Planned Activities:
During the
third term
(Mar-Apr-May)
3./
EARTH WIND & FIRE
Each partner school choose a myth/legend
about Earth-Wind-Fire
The
pupils learn to narrate this into their
native language - of course! - and they
record this on a wav file.
They
send text in English and wav. in their
language to the others to illustrate
the myth/legend
eg. AT-> GR-->PT-->AT…
Deadline: April
4./ SCHOOL VIDEO
Pupils make a short Video and send it
to the others.
They choose who will be the 'actor or
actors' and who the 'shooter' with a
digital camera (HP photosmart 735) or
whatever else..
They make a video digital recording :1./
the numbers from 1 until 10.
2./ their native alphabet (24 Greek
letters/ 23 Portuguese/ 26 Austrian )
They exchange the video files on a
CD and the Greek school will upload
them on the Greek school server

The final outcome
We improved our common
existing website
http://jiportodemos.ccems.pt/ledileo/ presenting
all planned activities as well the
spontaneous activities which come up by
the pupils – a point we all consider
as precious for the educational
process. We have also shared ‘Cds,
DVDs, video files, music files made by
our pupils inside and outside school
as well ‘ magic boxes’ sent by the
post, with a variety of stuff made
and prepared by pupils and teachers. The
children learned about Greece and Portugal
and Austria through the Ppt’s from our
partners, from books and stories we told
them about life in these different
countries. All these activities improved
their interest in learning about other
people and countries, and looking at the
Globe and of course on the webpage, where we
can see all the projects of every partner.
Three booklets – the fairy tales - chosen
by the pupils and printed in paper format
for school use as well for parents
and local society awareness.
Students
production:
-
Taking Digital photos
-
Ppt
presentations
-
Short text in Word
-
Record wav. files (songs
in native and into the ‘others’
language–stories narrations)
-
Video
storage media;
-
Computer
drawings, handicrafts exchange,
traditional food and drinks they also
-
Cook
traditional food from the 3 countries,
they learned a song in Greek,
-
Portuguese and in
Austrian language
-
E-books, as well a
common book in paper format with
local myths/legends
-
And all the above

which come up spontaneously by
pupils and teachers.

Evaluation:
At
teacher’s level:
New partner:
In the beginning
it was really hard work for us to make a
PowerPoint-Presentation, but now we have
learned to do it in a short time. We also
learned how to record songs and poems, how
to insert the wave-data into the Ppt, we
improved our English knowledge for
communication with our partners and in an
English course.
The interest in learning
about other countries and in comparing
education, main focuses and the basic
condition in the different kindergartens
extended.
All teachers involved
developed an excellent collaboration
with:
-
Regular e-mail contact
-
Sharing common
thoughts and perspectives
-
Meeting the deadlines
they set
-
Completing each others
work in a good way
-
Choosing the
appropriate work-rhythms for the
involved classes
-
Enjoying the procedure
of the whole project because
pedagogy must be FUN.
At Pupils’ level:
‘’native narration
inspired by the other partners’
stories’’ … ‘’ where is the winter/
save energy’’
-
They shared common
experiences creating various
educational materials: A common
book made by three local fairy
tales, illustrated by each others;
local traditional songs; various
narrations; local food experiences;
celebrating in common the poetry
day with their own poems;
participating in the Safer Internet
day 2007; drawing, & playing with
on line puzzles in their webpage
made by the teachers; creating
digital gallery with their drawings
and handicrafts; exchanging daily
events from their school life
usual for them but quite new for
the partners.
-
They got an
interesting reason to work further
from their daily class, more
flexibly and creatively . At the
same time all the chosen activities
were well adapted in school
programmes and aims. Pupils improved
their knowledge on the computer and
they started to realize the
differences among 4 different
languages learning
some words , phrases, songs.
-
They set up theatrical
performances based on e-twinning
activities and enjoyed learning in
a such a way.
5
At the local society:
-
The parents supported
the whole project and they joined
this in various ways (school fests,
helping and supporting the pupils,
knowing our partners from ‘close’
ect)
-
They realized the
positive outcome and impact on
their kids behaviour.
-
Austrian major was
involved in the project as well a
parent with a greek background
supported us with various activities
(teaching songs - translating recipe
into Greek)
-
The local society was
interested in different projects, like
our Spring Day
Dissemination:
Follow Up:
-
New partner:
We are very interested in
a furthermore good collaboration and
hope that our project will be continued.
-
New
Internet tools are already ‘on the
table’ for further discussions for
new methodological approaches and
collaborations
as Year 1.
